Types of Wooden Pallets and Their Uses

A stack of pallets

Pallets usually look all the same, especially if you’re looking at them from a couple of feet away. All you'll see are a pile of wooden structures. They’re mostly hollow from the inside and a few brown stains here and there. However, if you move a bit closer, you’ll see that none of them are the same. In this blog, we’ll take a look at some of the wooden pallets and their uses.

Let’s begin.

Block Pallets

It's designed to have a 4-way entry. This allows a forklift to pick up the pallet from all sides. The wooden block pallets use blocks of solid wood and sometimes wood. These thin pieces of wood are known as stringer boards. They come together to form a mat.

In some cases, you might find that the block pallet has bottom deck boards. This makes it easier to ship heavy loads. Block pallets can have parallel, perpendicular, overlap and perimeter bases. They’re very valuable and ensure that the shipment is protected.

Double-Face Pallet

Pallets have two different styles: they’re double-face and single-face. Double-faced pallets have decks on the top, and bottom surfaces above and below that allow weight to be distributed more evenly.

Double-faced pallets come in two forms: non-reversible and reversible. As the name suggests, With Reversible pallets, items can be stacked on both sides. Non-reversible, on the other hand, don't have this feature. Here, you can stack items on only one side.

Stringer Pallet

Stringer pallets use string to provide support to the load. These stringers are found between the deck boards to support the load. They provide more support as compared to the block pallets. They’re considered as a two-way pallet because they can be accessed from either side.

If you want to save a bit of money, it’s best to use a string pallet. Moreover, spring pallets are used in shipments where it doesn’t matter if you’ll get your pallet back. So before you send this, make sure you don’t require it in the future.
